Dance shoes have thinner soles than normal shoes and a steel shank for support. The shoe material is also flexible and lightweight.

The Hustle is a dance style popularized in the 1970s by Puerto Rican youths from The Bronx. It has some features that are similar to those in Salsa, Mambo and Swing.
The Hustle had many different names during the late 1970s such as disco swing, sling hustle and street hustle. Eventually, simply “The Hustle” was considered the term for all these types of energetic dance.
The 1970s disco era was an exciting time in the United States and one of the many dance styles to come out of that time was the Hustle. Originally, the Hustle was known as a line dance in which people would dance as a group. It also referred to dancing solo movements that people would perform on the dance floor.
Eventually, youth groups throughout the Bronx would have dance contests and this progressed the style of the Hustle. Partners were introduced and soon this became the recognised style of the Hustle.
When the classic film “Saturday Night Fever” was released in 1977, America observed the Swing and Latin dancing that took place to modern disco beats. This exciting style of dance took many different names such as Latin hustle and disco swing; however, the dance eventually became known simply as The Hustle.
There are no rules to this, however, there are some styles that are more popular than others. These might include Waltz, Sway, The Slow Dance, Swing, Foxtrot and of course Hustle just to name a few.
